Igor to turn into major hurricane

HURRICANE IGOR is set to turn into a major hurricane early this week as it moves closer to our area, say U.S.-based weather channels.

As of early this morning, the Bermuda Weather Service said the category one storm was 1,400 nautical miles to our east south-east.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami noted Igor had maximum sustained winds of 80 MPH and was moving west at 18 MPH.

Its closest point of approach to Bermuda in the next three days is 6 a.m. Wednesday, when it will be 835 nautical miles to the south-east.

Igor is NOT a threat to Bermuda at this time.
