A 46-year-old Canadian woman was charged this morning in Magistrates’ Court with importing $1.7 million dollars worth of cocaine and cannabis into Bermuda.

Media reports say that Janet Grant was charged with the offenses. It’s alleged the contraband was concealed inside of her hand-luggage on board an arriving flight at the airport last Thursday.

Specifically, Grant allegedly had $1.4 million in heroin, $370 thousand in cocaine, plus an amount of cannabis.

She was not required to plea because the case is going to the Supreme Court.

She was remanded in custody until November 4.
