A woman charged with knocking a teenager off his bike while driving her car drunk has not gone on trial as planned.

Angela Ambrosini, 37, of Smith’s parish, changed her plea to guilty in the Supreme Court yesterday to the charge of Causing Grievous Bodily Harm to Shakir Amory, 16, while driving under the influence.

However she maintained her not guilty plea on count two of the indictment which charges her with driving while impaired — it will be kept on file.

The incident happened on March 6 on South Road in Devonshire. The Cedarbridge Academy pupil suffered head injuries, multiple fractures, as well as internal injuries. He had to be flow to the U.S. for emergency treatment.

He has since recovered from most of his injuries.  Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves extended the woman’s bail until a sentencing date can be selected at the next monthly arraignments’ session.

Lawyer Larry Mussenden defended Ambrosini.
