AN appeal against money laundering convictions totalling more than $170 thousand by Goodwin Spencer was rejected today by the Court of Appeal.

According to ZBM radio’s 12 p.m. newscast, Spencer was convicted of 11 counts of money laundering in November of 2008 and was sentenced to seven years in jail by Chief Justice Richard Ground.

The Court has left for the moment, appeals against sentence, which Spencer claims is excessive and the Crown argues that it is inadequate.

On the conviction side, the three-judge panel ruled that it is firmly of the view that alleged inadmissible evidence does not diminish the force of other evidence or amount to such unfair practice to Spencer as to render any of the convictions unsafe.
