SOUTHAMPTON, DECEMBER 14, 2010 – The Fairmont Southampton today announces that The Newport Room, Bermuda’s only five-diamond restaurant, will once again open its doors for holiday celebrations on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Special dinner menus have been developed for each night by Newport Room Chef Cliff Crawford, featuring innovative new dishes and updated versions of traditional favourites.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, guests at The Newport Room will dine from a five-course menu prepared exclusively for each evening. On Christmas Eve, guests can choose from, among other items, lobster, roast duck and a plate of artisanal cheeses. Christmas Day dinner features Organic Turkey Sous Vide as well as three other main course choices. Pastry Chef Dragan Rucnov offers a selection of delicacies on both evenings, including a special version of the traditional Yule log. Vegetarian options are also available.  Service on Christmas Eve is from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, and on Christmas Day from 6:30pm to 10:00pm and the cost each evening is $89 per person plus gratuities.

On New Year’s Eve at The Newport Room, Chef Crawford will present a seven-course signature tasting menu including Bermuda Guinea Chick Bisque, Trio of Foie Gras, sea scallops, lamb and quail, a cheese course and a choice of white chocolate mousse created by Pastry Chef Rucnov. New Year’s Eve service is from 7:00pm to 11:00pm and the cost per person is $149 plus gratuities.

At The Newport Room, exquisite French cuisine is presented with silver service, crystal and bone china for an unparalleled dining experience. Glistening brass and mahogany and models of victorious yachts from the Newport to Bermuda Race give the restaurant a nautical theme.
