Last night more than 300 international representatives from the cable and telecommunications industry were welcomed to Bermuda to attend the annual general meeting of the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA). This is the first time that the event has been held on the island.

Bermuda CableVision’s senior management team of Terry Roberson, Jake Simon, Chad Roberts, Alan Smith, Rollin Nathan, Mike Jones and Eddie Cherwinski, join the gombeys in wowing the crowds at Welcome Cocktail party of the 2013 annual meeting of the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association being at The Fairmont Southampton from Tuesday to Thursday this week.

Bermuda CableVision, one of the event sponsors, is hosting the three-day meeting at The Fairmont Southampton, which is covering a number of key industry topics, including technical advancements, marketing, new programming highlights and methods for improving quality of service. The meeting will also feature a keynote address on “The Future of Cable,” as well as in-depth panel discussions and an Exhibit hall, where vendors are demonstrating the latest industry products and services.

No trip to Bermuda would be complete without an opportunity to enjoy the exquisite beauty and some of the many attractions the island has to offer. The CCTA event is being sponsored in part by the Bermuda Department of Tourism, which hosted a very popular island tour for the attendees yesterday, as well as a golfing outing at Port Royal Golf Course, home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.

Terry Roberson, General Manager of Bermuda CableVision, and past Chairman of the CCTA, says: “CableVision lobbied extensively to bring this international event to Bermuda, and it was well worth it, as the attendees have so far found the island to be welcoming, breathtakingly beautiful, and some have already expressed plans to return to Bermuda for a future vacation. We would like to thank the CCTA and our co-sponsors, especially the Bermuda Department of Tourism, for their support. I’m sure the meeting will be very productive and well-attended by a large cross-section of international industry professionals who I’m confident will go home with a very positive impression of our island.”

Formed in 1983, the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association represents cable and telecommunications providers throughout the Caribbean and the programmers, software and hardware suppliers that support their activities.  The Community Charities Program, which was established by the CCTA in 1993, has awarded $208,250 during its existence. www.cctanet.com
