AFL Investments today announces it is to host a free ‘Maximising Returns in a Low Yield Environment’ hour-long seminar as part of its Lunch & Learn series. It will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 12.15pm in the Argus Training Centre.

The seminar will explore recommended strategies and approaches for investing in the current economy. It will cover why cash in your portfolio could be a bad thing at this present time, how to protect your assets against inflation and deflation, as well as how to identify other potential risk areas to monitor.

The session will be presented by Bill McKay, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager to AFL Investments and the Cidel Financial Group in Toronto, Canada. Mr. McKay has over 20 years of senior-level experience providing advice on asset allocation, portfolio construction and security selection at Cidel, and prior to that, at UBS in Canada. He has a wide variety of experience in equity and fixed income analysis, foreign exchange and structured products.

Guest speaker, Bill McKay

Carla Seely, Senior Wealth Manager, AFL Investments, says: “In recent months with Governments around the world keeping interest rates low, there has been a lot of local investor anxiety about the right actions to be taken for the best possible return. The economy certainly remains challenging, but not impossible, and having good information is critical at this time. Mr. McKay is an excellent speaker and we wanted to take the opportunity, while he was in Bermuda, to offer his expert perspective to help inform the decisions of local investors. Attendees should leave the seminar feeling much more confident about options available to them to further enhance their investment portfolio within this low yield environment.”

The information session will be held in The Argus Training Centre in the Argus Building at 14 Wesley Street in Hamilton. Pre-registration before March 15 is required by emailing or calling 294-5715. A light lunch will be provided.
