Sun Life Financial International today announces it is a lead sponsor of Bermuda’s cohort for the NatWest Island Games 2015. As part of the sponsorship, Sun Life Financial International will provide the uniforms that more than 100 Bermuda athletes will wear for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as for travelling and official team business.

In addition, Sun Life Financial International will provide hats and t-shirts for the athletes to wear during training.

Andrew A. Darfoor, Senior Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer, Sun Life Financial International, says: “We are delighted to sponsor the uniforms and gear for the Bermuda athletes participating in the NatWest Island Games. Competitive sports instill important life lessons about teamwork and achieving excellence and we are pleased to support the Bermuda national team. We remain committed to supporting the Island and the people of Bermuda and we wish all competitors the very best in the games.”

Jon Beard, Chairman of the Bermuda Island Games Association, says: “On behalf of the Bermuda Island Games Association and the athletes, I would like to thank Sun Life for their generous sponsorship. Uniforms help to create a team identity and give our athletes a sense of pride in their Bermudian heritage. We look forward to renewing our friendships made during previous games and to representing Bermuda proudly in Jersey later this month.”

The NatWest Island Games will be held in Jersey from June 27 to July 3. The first Island Games were held in the Isle of Man in 1985 to provide an opportunity for hundreds of young sportsmen and women from small island communities to compete and enjoy international competition against other islanders with similar standards of performance. The NatWest Island Games were held in Bermuda in 2013.
