Marsh and Guy Carpenter announced today a $20,000 donation to St. John Ambulance. The Marsh and Guy Carpenter donation will be made over two years and will support the purchase of a new ambulance and emergency equipment to furnish the new ambulance. St. John Ambulance is seeking to grow its fleet to meet the increased demand for ambulatory services in Bermuda.

St. John Ambulance is a local registered charity that has been attending to the first aid needs of the community since 1894. All members are unpaid volunteers and there are currently four ambulances and one ambulance mobile clinic that supports the charity’s services.

“We are immensely grateful to Marsh and Guy Carpenter for their generous donation,” said Jeffrey Borges, Deputy Commissioner of St. John Ambulance. “The purchase of a new ambulance is expensive and, as an all-volunteer organisation, we rely on donations from individuals and companies. The four ambulances that we currently have are in continuous use at community events and adding an ambulance to our fleet will help us to offer faster and more efficient service throughout the Island to ensure that anyone who needs emergency care at an event gets it when they need it.”

“We are proud to support St. John Ambulance in their purchase of a new ambulance and emergency equipment. At community events, their volunteers are often the first responders in an emergency and ensuring they have the most up-to-date vehicles and equipment is vital to keeping our community safe,” said Jill Husbands, Country Corporate Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Bermuda and Chairman of MMC’s Bermuda Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.
