BERMUDA — Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 — [Bermuda Wired]: COPS hunting desperate men who tried to rob a senior citizen are asking for the public’s help.
Around 11.15 last night, the 63-year-old St. George’s woman was driving her car along Rocky Lane, Hamilton Parish, when a knife-wielding man jumped from the bushes in front of her car and demanded money.
When the victim stopped her car, three other hoodlums appeared and surrounded her vehicle, also brandishing bladed articles.
Luckily the sound of an oncoming motorcycle rider caused the culprits to flee on foot. The woman also took the opportunity to escape the scene and was not hurt.
She described the main culprit as standing around 5 foot 11 inches, of slim build, while the others stood about 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 9 inches.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident; in particular the motorcycle rider who rode through the Rocky Lane/Sleepy Hollow area around 11:15pm Monday, to contact them.
Additionally, anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Jason Smith at the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 278-5105.
