Teenager not guilty of armed burglary

A JURY today acquitted Leo Burgess, 17, on the charge of aggravated burglary of the Southampton home of Greg Wilson and on the charge of unlawful firearm possession by a minor. ZBM News reports tonight that out of the 12 jurors, nine voted to acquit while three dissented. Burgess, of Cambridge Road, walked from court a free man following the decision. He was in the company of family and friends, some of whom had been crying hysterically in court during the verdicts. Shirtless gorilla burglarizes tourists’ Paget room

Around 6:05pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Grape Bay Drive, Paget residence. American visitors to the island stated that sometime between 2:30pm and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home where they were staying while it was unoccupied, stealing a quantity of cash. Tourist targeted at Paget hotel

Around 5am on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at The Wharf Hotel in Paget. It appears that around 4am an unknown man gained entry into a guest room at the premises. The intruder demanded money from the occupant and made good his escape with a quantity of cash. The victim, a 28 year old Australian man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The visitor’s injuries are not life threatening. Teens admit to burglary and theft of $30,000 worth of property

TWO teenage burglars who admitted to removing a combined total of $30,000 worth of property — in two separate court appearances  — are awaiting sentencing. That information coming from a Bermuda Broadcasting TV news report tonight. Cedarbridge academy student Ryan Jay Furbert, 17, admitted to breaking into a Smiths Parish home and removing $9,250 worth of electronic devices. He appeared alongside Jahrico Tucker, 16, who denied the charge and is awaiting trial.
