Opposition doubtful with ‘same tired group’ in new Cabinet

WHILE PLP supports are enthusiastic over the unveiling of the Cabinet under Premier Paula Cox, the official Opposition has doubts. Following the constitution, Governor Sir Richard Gozney officially appointed the 11 members of the Cabinet yesterday at Government House — excluding Premier Cox and Deputy Premier Derrick Burgess. Shadow Minister of Education Grant Gibbons calls the situation “unacceptable”. He is quoted as saying: “We call on the Minister to rectify the situation immediately. “Classroom teachers have enough challenges on their...

Opposition Leader slams Government for not replacing the Causeway

The Causeway is the only land-structure connecting the Airport and residents of the east end with the rest of the island. The death of four people on the old ‘bridge’ by Hurricane Fabian in 2003 sparked serious talks of replacing it — nothing has emerged since. In a stinging post Hurricane Igor assessment, Opposition Leader Kim Swan accuses the ruling PLP administration of treating St. George’s and St. David’s people like...
